Biomarker Disclosure

May 4, 2026
Overview
The Clinical Core manages the vital bridge between research and clinical care by providing participants with clear, ethical access to their Alzheimer’s disease blood-based biomarker results. Using a standardized ADRC disclosure protocol, the clinical core ensures that complex biological data is translated into understandable health insights, allowing participants to make informed decisions about their future care.

Areas of Focus
1.     Ethical Disclosure & Counseling: Providing professional pre-test counseling to manage expectations and post-test sessions to explain the implications of amyloid results.
2.     Clinical Pathfinding: Ensuring that individuals with previously undiagnosed cognitive impairment receive immediate referrals to specialized neurological clinics for formal evaluation.
3.     Inter-Core Coordination: Collaborating with the DMS and ORE cores to maintain a secure, public-facing dashboard that tracks community recruitment and diagnostic trends.

Impact on Participants and Families
1.     Early Intervention: Provides families with "medical "early warnings," allowing for proactive lifestyle adjustments and earlier access to amyloid-targeting therapies.
2.     Empowered Health Literacy: Demystifies advanced biomarker science, moving the conversation from clinical uncertainty to objective biological data.
3.     Streamlined Care Pathways: Reduces the "diagnostic odyssey" for patients by providing a direct link from community screening to professional neurological support.
4.     Contribution to Cures: Empowers participants to remain at the forefront of research, turning their biomarker status into an opportunity to fuel the next generation of Alzheimer’s breakthroughs.
